#5 Rules for Success
I don't know. Really?
Client: "I would like to start my own business but I don't know how. Where to start?“
Me: "I wish there is some free encyclopedia in your home that can help you to answer all your questions. Oh wait, there is! Google is your friend. Google it!"
If you have no idea what to do with your life – search it on Google. If you want to start a business but you don't know what is the first step, search on Google „First step for starting a business.“ What is the worst thing that can happen? My neighbor is CEO of company "Aliens Kidnapped the School". I wonder how did he come up with the idea.
Be realistic – Expect miracles!
The only way to progress in life is to do something you have never done before. When you are doing something for the first time, you have no clue what are you doing and you are feeling fear. That is ok. Successful people are successful because they decide to do it, despite the fear. To do something clumsy is still better than to not do it at all. Making mistakes is an experience. Experience is the first step to success.
Statistics are telling us that before the death, the most frequent regret is that people didn't take enough risks. Risk more! Think about what can you lose?
Instead of asking yourself why would I do that, say to yourself – Why not!
The only limits that exist are the one in your mind, and you are the only person that can move them. Visualize your goal, set a date, imagine a color of your new car, imagine that you are already there. Believe in yourself. If you don't believe in yourself, who will?
Ego is based on what other people think of you, or how would you want them to see you. You don't have time to worry about that. Life is too short. Instead, invest your hours in knowledge, fun, doing good or in your career development. Don't waste your time on other people opinions. There is no time to be insecure. Detach your self-esteem from external people and circumstances. Your peace, respect, and self-confidence are already within you, you don't have to ask for them in other people.
Jealousy comes from ego. If other people are doing better than you, be happy for them. Unless they are your competitors. Then report them to inspection and destroy their business. Just joking. Learn from them everything you can. Compete only with the person you were yesterday.
Take responsibility for everything you do and for everything that is happening to you. Stop blaming circumstances or other people.
Charles Swindoll once said, „Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.“ Remember that. You don't have to do (almost) anything. You always have a choice.
Integrity, moral philosophy, life values, ethics and other stuff you didn't understand during your philosophy classes in college.
To sum up all that complex wisdom Plato and Nietzsche were telling – do what feels right.
If your gut feeling is telling you that you don't actually want to do something, but you are tempted because you will get a lot of money or some other benefit for it, don't do it. Think long-term. Set as your life priority stuff that will help you sleep at night like a baby. And I don't mean on the luxury mattress. Don't sell your life values. Following your life values and passion is what keeps you feel alive. Never replace it for money. Money comes on the top of it.
Do good and have fun
Be kind. Treat the cleaning lady and your boss with the same respect. Always find time for saying „Thank you“ and „Have a nice day“. Help stranger to carry a heavy bag, let your seat in the tube to an older lady. Smile is a free gift.
Law of reciprocity is stating that you will get the same type and amount of energy you send to the universe. Keep that on your mind.
And in the end, this is the most important thing in life – have fun! Do something new.
Take a rest. Relax. Having fun is not wasted time, that is time invested in your life balance and joy. Having fun is what life is all about!
